BC Hydro is offering a significant opportunity for residents in Non-Integrated Areas (NIA) including Bella Coola, Hagensborg, Anahim Lake, Haida Gwaii, Hartley Bay, and areas north of Williston Lake. Qualified residents can receive up to $150,000, including up to $75,000 for solar installations and an additional $75,000 for battery storage systems for a $200,000 project.
What does it do?
The project we offer comprises 25.2 kW of solar panels and 57.4 kWh of batteries, enough to generate 2,750$ worth of electricity a year and keep your house powered for up to a week when the power goes out. This allows you to both save money and be resilient when BC Hydro has issues with their generators or transmission lines.

How much does it cost?
With involvement on your part with labor, transport and planning, we can effectively realize a 200,000$ project at your property at no cost on your end. If you are unable to contribute, the final cost of the project can range from $10,000 to $40,000. Reach out to us at info@reesolar.ca for more details.
Why is BC Hydro doing this?
The province of British Columbia along with BC Hydro have important environmental and renewable energy development goals for the near future as detailed in their clean energy strategy. Being a government entity, BC Hydro has had difficulties in the past with getting energy projects past the finish line. Land acquisition, environmental impact studies, grid connection and administrative burden have impacted the cost of new energy production so much that BC Hydro now prefers to rely on private installers and smaller projects to meet their energy goals. You can learn more about this program on BC Hydro’s microgrid rebate program page.
Is REE Solar qualified to perform those installs?
Solar projects are complex as they involve civil and electrical engineering, Canadian Electrical Code compliance, CSA compliance, building code compliance as well as specialized solar expertise. With REE Solar, every installation is planned and supervised by a licensed professional engineer in close collaboration with both BC Hydro and the client. In addition, our systems meet both the required CSA and UL regulations as well as the new UL 9540 certifications, ensuring the maximum level of safety. Our installations come with a 10 year warranty on parts and installation, plus a 25 year additional warranty on solar panels.
How do I get started?
Give us a call, or send us an email. After we've given you a rundown of the major steps, you'll receive a short list of questions to tailor our installation to your property.
